Wilton Expects Focus

The children in Year 2 have been working hard doing their SATs both this week and next week, while the choir have also been practicing for the ‘We Will Rock You’ performance.

Everyone has been showing their Determination to be their best!

The assembly theme was about reflection.

Next week the children will show Courage as they focus on Independence and learn about the Rule of Law and what it means to British values.

Year 1/2 Miss Bass Class Round up

We have been extremely busy in year 1 and 2 so far this term.

In English we have been learning how to write a good set of instructions by ensuring we give clear and precise instructions to avoid mistakes. We have recapped our prior learning about imperative verbs and time connectives and have talked about how they are used when writing instructions.

In PE we have been learning how to hit and throw a ball using our dominant hand. At the beginning of the term we visited Redcar College and completed our final fundamental skills day. We had lots of fun taking part in a range of activities which tested our abilities such as testing our balance, speed and throwing and catching skills.

In maths the children have been focusing on division. The Year 1 children have enjoyed sharing cubes into hoops to represent their working out. The Year two children have been drawing their own representation to show the working out that goes into a division question and to prepare for the SAT’s.

On Friday the 5th of May we spent that day celebrating the upcoming King’s Coronation. In the morning we did a range of activities to learn more about the King and the royal family. In the afternoon we were able to spend some time with our families.

In Art we have been looking at an artist names Angie Lewin. We have learnt that she is an artist who paints landscapes and is inspired by clifftops and saltmarshes. She then makes the main focus detailed plant forms.

Breakfast Club

Did you know we do a breakfast club every morning? You can bring your child in, knowing they’ll get a good breakfast before they start school.

This is open to everyone and can be booked in the clubs section on the school gateway app.

It costs £1.20 for each morning your child attends.

This will continue in the new term.
