This week the children have been showing how hard they can work with their Determination!
The class assembly was about Children’s Mental Health week and Safer Internet Day.
Next week the children will be showing their Independence through their work.
Year 3 /4 have been working hard in writing to produce a mystery story, the children thought about their language choices in order to create suspense and tension within the story. The children used a full range of sentence types to add depth to their story.
In reading sessions, the children have thoroughly enjoyed reading Krindlekrax and were immersed and captivated by the story. Throughout, the children asked lots of interesting questions about the characters and showed great empathy for the characters.
In maths, the children have been focusing on time, how to tell the time on both analogue and digital clocks and to the nearest minute. The children found this quite tricky at times, however they showed determination and persevered with this tricky concept.
In science, we have also started looking at forces, the children were challenged with the task of moving objects across a table, but without lifting them! In order to do this, they needed to use the basic forces of pushing and pulling.
In art, the children have been studying the work of Giuseppe Arcimboldo and how he used fruit and objects to bring his portraits to life and add humour to them. The children have enjoyed sketching different fruits and vegetables using a full range of art mediums, adding water to change colour and combining these skills together. Their finished piece was a portrait of themselves but using fruit for their head features.
In music, the children have continued to work on playing the recorder, learning different notes and combining the different notes to accompany a piece of music.
In PSHE, we have also been learning about family, what a family can look like, what families do for us and how they love, care, protect and provide for us to make us feel safe and secure. We look forward to sharing our assembly with you!
Did you know we do a breakfast club every morning? You can bring your child in, knowing they’ll get a good breakfast before they start school.
This is open to everyone and can be booked in the clubs section on the school gateway app.
It costs £1.20 for each morning your child attends.
Attendance every day is vital for your child’s progress unless they are too unwell to learn. It is your responsibility to inform the academy if your child is going to be absent by 9am each day of their absence. You can contact the office on 01642 453374.
