This week was what our Year 6 children had been working towards all year. SATs WEEK!!
They’ve worked really hard and we are super proud of each and every one of them for doing the best they can, showing Courage and Independence when they sat their tests..
On Thursday our amazing kitchen team did a special menu, including parmos, homemade garlic and pancakes, for our Year 6 group who had finished their last exam.
In other news our EYFS class went to Newham Grange Farm on Friday and had a fantastic time.
Mrs Wardle and Mrs Robinson would like to thank all the parents who volunteered and came along to help.
The Assembly theme this week was Mental Health Awareness Week and how important mental health is to our wellbeing as a whole.
Next week is Walk to School Week and the focus will be on Co-operation and Collaboration as we head into the week before half term.
Please could we remind you that parking outside of the school on Pasture Lane is not permitted. On the school side, this is clearly marked out as a no parking zone. This applies on a morning, home time and throughout the day. Parking on the other side blocks the road and it makes it difficult for cars to pass and makes it unsafe for children.
If you need to drive to school, please park on the High Street, the Grange Estate or further round Pasture Lane to ensure the road and paths around the school grounds are clear and safe for adults and children.
We have had a few very busy weeks in the lead up to the year 6 SATs, lots of revision for them and support from the year 5’s has been fantastic.
Our year 5’s have definitely been using the skills they have learnt through participating in their Bronze Award from HeadStart all about good mental health and awareness around things which can affect our mental health.
We also participated in the Art afternoon – it was great to head the children ‘teaching’ parents how to draw using perspective and a vanishing point.
We have had a Zoom meeting with female representatives working in the Maritime Industry showing our children that there are opportunities for all at the ports. They found the Boat Builder, Desk Officer and Port Manager very interesting, and I hope were inspired to understand the different paths which may be taken into the world of business.
Finally, we are looking forward to attending our annual TVED book awards and have created some amazing feathers to attach to our ‘Fly Boy’ image.
Did you know we do a breakfast club every morning?
You can bring your child in, knowing they’ll get a good breakfast before they start school. This is open to everyone and can be booked in the clubs section on the school gateway app.
It costs £1.20 for each morning your child attends.
Attendance every day is vital for your child’s progress unless they are too unwell to learn. It is your responsibility to inform the academy if your child is going to be absent by 8.45am each day of their absence.
You can contact the office on 01642 453374.
This weeks best attendance goes to…..
6 days of missed learning occurred this week due to unauthorised absences. Unauthorised absences are for holidays, parents/carers not contacting the academy or any other unexplained
This week we had 71 children who achieved 100% Attendance for this week, which is Outstanding!!
A huge WELL DONE to you all.
Can you get 100% next week?
Our lunches are provided on a 3 week rota. Next week will be Week 1.
A reminder to all parents we are a Nut Free Academy, please read below.
Please make sure that all items of clothing, including coats and packed lunch bags are clearly labelled with children’s names, so it is easy to find their owners.
All children have been provided with a t-shirt and shorts in a bag for PE lessons but they need to have their own trainers/plimsols in school please. Plimsols will be provided if needed. As the weather is changing, you may want to send in a tracksuit for children to wear outside during PE lessons.
