For our first week back the children have been working together showing Collaboration.
While the assembly theme was all about World Book Day.
Next week the children will look at respecting others and showing Compassion.
Early years have had an exciting February.
We started the month celebrating Chinese New Year. The children learnt all about the celebrations and the story of the year of the rabbit. They tasted Chinese food, made shakers and had a Chinese dragon parade around school.
We have also read lots of traditional fairy tales and had some visits to our classroom from some of the characters from the stories. The children wrote letters to little red riding hood, and she brought them the ingredients to make jam sandwiches. Our home corner became grandma’s cottage and the children enjoyed acting out the story.
We enjoyed pretending to be the troll and goats from The Three Billy Goats Gruff. The children made bridges with different materials and an actual bridge they could cross in our outdoor area. Although we made posters to try and find the missing troll, we still have not found him! Please keep your eyes peeled for a grumpy troll in Lazenby!
Did you know we do a breakfast club every morning? You can bring your child in, knowing they’ll get a good breakfast before they start school.
This is open to everyone and can be booked in the clubs section on the school gateway app.
It costs £1.20 for each morning your child attends.
Attendance every day is vital for your child’s progress unless they are too unwell to learn. It is your responsibility to inform the academy if your child is going to be absent by 9am each day of their absence. You can contact the office on 01642 453374.
Year 5/6 are this weeks winners, congratulations!!
Our lunches are provided on a 3 week rota. When we return the menu will be week 1.
Please make sure that all items of clothing, including coats and packed lunch bags are clearly labelled with children’s names, so it is easy to find their owners.
All children have been provided with a t-shirt and shorts in a bag for PE lessons but they need to have their own trainers/plimsols in school please. Plimsols will be provided if needed. As the weather is changing, you may want to send in a tracksuit for children to wear outside during PE lessons.
