Wilton Expects Focus

This week the children have been working hard showing kindness to each other and their determination in their work.

The assembly theme this week was all about British Science week.

Next week the children will be working on their Independence and what it means to them.

School photo day

Don’t forget Monday is School Photo day!!

Year 3/4 Mrs Norton Class Round up

Year 3 /4 have been working in writing to produce an explanation text to help catch a creature on the loose! The children needed to make the creature seem terrifying and therefore, used description to do so. They have also produced a persuasive letter with the intention of persuading someone to join our choir, they learned lots of interesting facts about choirs and used persuasive language features to make their letter successful!

In maths, the children have been learning about the properties of shapes within a geometry focus, and therefore being able to name and describe shapes based on their specific properties and placed in different orientations.

Also, the children have been working on fractions once again, looking at how they are represented, how to interpret them, and even how to compare and order them.

In design and technology, the children have designed and created their own healthy salads. The children learned how to chop, slice and peel a range of fruits and vegetables, they then had the opportunity to taste the fruits and vegetables before creating their design brief. The children were open to tasting a full range of flavours and levels of spice and some even used these within their salads. We even invited parents and guardians to share their scrumptious salads!

In geography, the children have been learning about four of the countries which make up Scandinavia. They have learned where to locate them on a map and as a result, they linked this back to their learning about the Vikings. The children found out lots of information, including the capital cities, what can be found in each of the four countries and how the weather varies throughout the year. The children even created their own bar graphs and line graphs to compare the weather throughout the year.

In PSHE, the children have begun learning about different hobbies and how they can support but their physical and mental health.
