Autumn is well and truly here and the children are working as hard as ever in school showing how they can be Independent with their work and also around the school.
We had visitors speaking to the children about Mental well being for World Mental Health day.
Next week is all about Collaboration and Kindness as we prepare for the Harvest Festival and Show Racism the Red Card.
It has been a VERY busy start to the new year for year 5/6.
We have had a fantastic residential at Peat Rigg, we have had Sport’s Leader training and taken part in a Tag Rugby competition.
On top of all that, we have dived straight in to our new year writing a twisted fairy tale in English, learning how to apply our calculation knowledge to word problems in Maths and all about how the latitude of the country you live in affects your climate.
Finally, we have been learning about Evolution and Inheritance in Science with the children producing fantastic ‘alien’ offspring.
The children have also talked with incredible maturity about their mental health and learnt what it means to have healthy ‘mental health’ and how sometimes we struggle to have healthy ‘mental health’.
Did you know we do a breakfast club every morning? You can bring your child in, knowing they’ll get a good breakfast before they start school.
This is open to everyone and can be booked in the clubs section on the school gateway app.
It costs £1.20 for each morning your child attends.
Don’t forget to log onto School Gateway to buy your Halloween Disco tickets
Attendance every day is vital for your child’s progress unless they are too unwell to learn. It is your responsibility to inform the academy if your child is going to be absent by 8.45am each day of their absence. You can contact the office on 01642 453374.
This week’s winners are…….
67 children achieved 100% attendance this week which is AMAZING!!!!!
Can you get 100% next week?
Our lunches are provided on a 3 week rota. Next weeks options will be Week 2
A reminder to all parents we are a Nut Free Academy, please read below.
Please make sure that all items of clothing, including coats and packed lunch bags are clearly labelled with children’s names, so it is easy to find their owners.
All children have been provided with a t-shirt and shorts in a bag for PE lessons but they need to have their own trainers/plimsols in school please. Plimsols will be provided if needed. As the weather is changing, you may want to send in a tracksuit for children to wear outside during PE lessons.
