Wilton Expects Focus

The sun is well and truly shining down on the Academy this week.

The children have enjoyed the amazing weather but also been working very hard indoors too.

The Assembly theme was World Red Cross day and how important it is to help everyone, no matter where they are. The Character focus was on Reflection and Determination.

We finished the week, as many of you know, with our Art observation and we would like to thank all the parents who came to take part.

Next week is a big week for our Year 6 class as they will be taking their SATs and will be showing plenty of Courage and Independence when they take their exams.

We wish all of our Year 6 children the best of luck and we hope they have an amazing and well rested weekend.

Parking around the School

Please could we remind you that parking outside of the school on Pasture Lane is not permitted. On the school side, this is clearly marked out as a no parking zone. This applies on a morning, home time and throughout the day.  Parking on the other side blocks the road and it makes it difficult for cars to pass and makes it unsafe for children. 

If you need to drive to school, please park on the High Street,  the Grange Estate or further round Pasture Lane to ensure the road and paths around the school grounds are clear and safe for adults and children. 

Year 3/4 Miss Norton Class Round Up

In English, we started the term by completing our poem which included rhyme and repetition. We then began writing and creating a persuasive leaflet persuading people to visit and explore the North East which also linked to our geography topic.

In reading, we have been exploring leaflets and the different persuasive techniques which are included to advertise and persuade people to visit different places.

In maths we began by re-capping place value and lots of us had strong knowledge of this and were able to apply our knowledge to reasoning and problem solving style questions. We are not looking at calculations and although we find some easier than others, we are all perservering!

In science, have been looking at living creatures, how we can classify them into amphibians, birds, fish, mammals and reptiles. How we can classify them as their nutrition type and furthermore so, how we can classify them by their unique characteristics.

In geography, we put all that we have learned about settlements into a presentation and also made links to other slides within this, to support our computing curriculum.

In French, we have continued learning about place names and we are becoming more confident with this.

In addition, we all completed our Pedestrian Training and can successfully cross the roads safely.

Breakfast Club

Did you know we do a breakfast club every morning?

You can bring your child in, knowing they’ll get a good breakfast before they start school. This is open to everyone and can be booked in the clubs section on the school gateway app.

It costs £1.20 for each morning your child attends.

Attendance

Attendance every day is vital for your child’s progress unless they are too unwell to learn. It is your responsibility to inform the academy if your child is going to be absent by 8.45am each day of their absence.

Missed Learning

18 days of missed learning occurred this week due to unauthorised absences. Unauthorised absences are for holidays, parents/carers not contacting the academy or any other unexplained absence. With most minor ailments, children can be in school, so we really encourage you to think about keeping your child at home.

100% Attendance

This week we had 68 children who achieved 100% Attendance for this week, which is Brilliant!

Nut Free Academy

A reminder to all parents we are a Nut Free Academy, please read below.

School Uniform and PE days

Please make sure that all items of clothing, including coats and packed lunch bags are clearly labelled with children’s names, so it is easy to find their owners.

All children have been provided with a t-shirt and shorts in a bag for PE lessons but they need to have their own trainers/plimsols in school please. Plimsols will be provided if needed. As the weather is changing, you may want to send in a tracksuit for children to wear outside during PE lessons.
