This week the children have been working hard in teams to show the benefits of Cooperation and Collaboration. The focus in assembly was on the importance of Road Safety. Next week the children will be looking at their Compassion.
This half term, the children thoroughly enjoyed the start of term by going swimming, even though this was a little daunting to begin with! The children soon gained confidence and showed true determination to achieve their best!
Also, we were fortunate to have Eston Sports Partnership in to work with us on some invasion techniques that are used within netball. The children really enjoyed the session and it give them the opportunity to think about the techniques and strategies to use when playing invasion games.
In writing, we began by writing a non-chronological report all about the Stone Age, the children needed to write as a historian to tell an alien about this period in history. The Children were able to use their historical knowledge to inform their report and as a result, included some wonderful detail.
In maths, the children have been working on measures and calculations. They have used their newly learned strategies and have been able to apply this knowledge to reasoning and problem-solving questions too.
In art, the children have been studying Lowry, they have explored his paintings, what he includes in his paintings and his limited palette also. The children then created their own sketches based around Redcar and Middlesbrough and used Lowry’s techniques to complete their version.
The children have also had the opportunity to create lanterns for the Redcar Illumination Parade. They used willow to create the structure, tissue paper to cover and decorated with tissue paper for colour. You will be able to see the finished articles at the Parade on Sunday!
We need your help in designing a new warm up t-shirt that sends out a simple message that ‘Football is for Everyone’.
We want to see your creative side and design a warm up t-shirt for the players during our River-Side-By-Side game against QPR during Pride History Month (February).
The chosen winner will not only win tickets to the game but all see their tshirt come to life and professionally made so that the players themselves can wear these during warm up.
The competition will close Sunday 18th December

Our lunches are provided on a 3 week rota. Next weeks menus will be week 2. Please discuss this with your child to help them with their choices.
Please make sure that all items of clothing, including coats and packed lunch bags are clearly labelled with children’s names, so it is easy to find their owners.
All children have been provided with a t-shirt and shorts in a bag for PE lessons but they need to have their own trainers/plimsols in school please. Plimsols will be provided if needed. As the weather is changing, you may want to send in a tracksuit for children to wear outside during PE lessons.
