This week the children have been working hard showing their team work and determination. The assembly theme was on British values and the Rule of Law.
Next week the children will focusing on Independence.
This is also Miss Bayntuns last week at Wilton. We would like to thank her for all her hard work and we wish the absolute best for the future and how much we will miss her.
Year 3 /4 have been working in writing to produce a narrative, they re-created the ending for ‘The Ant and the Grasshopper’. The children needed to think about a lesson that the grasshopper would learn. The children used lots of description, a range of sentence types and even humour to bring their story to life.
Following this, the children then created Kenning Poems based on Mr Linden’s Library – the children thought and considered their vocabulary choices to make the poems sound a little creepy and mysterious!
In maths, the children have been working on fractions, looking at how they are represented, how to interpret them, and even how to compare and order them. This term we have begun with calculations and how to use specific vocabulary when completing these and explaining these to others.
In design and technology, the children have been making cushions in year 3 and in year 4 soft toys. The children found some of the sewing techniques rather tricky; however, they demonstrated determination to accomplish their finished piece of work. It was also lovely to have some of their parents join us for the afternoon in helping them to make their masterpieces.
In history, we have begun studying the Vikings, the children have been learning when they arrived, how they arrived and where they came from. Children have also discovered a little about Viking life and how they had dilemmas to overcome.
In music, the children have also remembered some of the skills that they have previously learned and are able to play alongside a piece of music.
We also had lots of exciting things going on in the academy on the run up to Christmas, including trips to the pantomime, making arts and crafts and lots of exciting opportunities to sing too!
Attendance every day is vital for your child’s progress unless they are too unwell to learn. It is your responsibility to inform the academy if your child is going to be absent by 9am each day of their absence. You can contact the office on 01642 453374.
