Wilton Expects Focus

There are only two weeks left until the end of the school year and while the weather may be all over the place, the children still working as hard as they did on the first day of this year.

We had our amazing Performance in the Playground for all our families and while the weather wasn’t what we hoped the children put on such a performance even the rain held off long enough for everyone to have a great time, including a song dedicated to Mrs Hill.

The Assembly theme was about the Anniversary of the NHS and why it is such an important British institution. The character focus was on Reflection and Compassion.

Next week is Transition week and the children will be moving up into new classes to get an idea of what to expect in September and our Year 6 children will be attending the Secondary schools to get a taste of what’s to come.

the Assembly theme will be on Emmeline Pankhurst and the impact she had on British Democracy, the character focus will be on Courage and Independence.

Also, COME ON ENGLAND!!!

Parking around the School

Please could we remind you that parking outside of the school on Pasture Lane is not permitted. On the school side, this is clearly marked out as a no parking zone. This applies on a morning, home time and throughout the day.  Parking on the other side blocks the road and it makes it difficult for cars to pass and makes it unsafe for children. If you need to drive to school, please park on the High Street,  the Grange Estate or further round Pasture Lane to ensure the road and paths around the school grounds are clear and safe for adults and children. 

Year 1/2 Mrs Barron Class Round Up

Hurray!!! We are celebrating in Y1/2! On the second attempt our grass heads have grown. The children have been working to observe the seeds over time. We have discussed what might have affected growth in our first attempt and the children have tried really hard to ensure the pots got the right amount of water each day. 

Lots of work has been linked to our science topic and we are currently writing a non chronological report using the information we found out about plants. We had a visit from Y3/4 who had been writing stories about a crazed hamster that had escaped. They were really keen to share them with us and we loved hearing all the different versions of the story.

We have been discussing E-Safety and what information people post online. The children were very surprised to find out how easy it is to find information on someone and that the information stays online for a very long time . They have talked about how people can copy information from social media and shar it with people we don’t know.

Last week we had a visit from Quad Kids who brought lots of different equipment to help us develop our sporting and competitive skills. Some of our children and parents have also joined in our family fitness after schools club. All of the games and activities practiced in the sessions can be replicated at home as the children will receive a bag of goodies used in the sessions next week at the final week of the club. We hope you have a lovely summer and we can’t wait to share our learning when we come back in September.

Breakfast Club

Did you know we do a breakfast club every morning?

You can bring your child in, knowing they’ll get a good breakfast before they start school. This is open to everyone and can be booked in the clubs section on the school gateway app.

It costs £1.20 for each morning your child attends.

Attendance

Attendance every day is vital for your child’s progress unless they are too unwell to learn. It is your responsibility to inform the academy if your child is going to be absent by 8.45am each day of their absence.

22.5 days of missed learning occurred this week due to unauthorised absences. Unauthorised absences are for holidays, parents/carers not contacting the academy or any other unexplained

This week we had 68 children who achieved 100% Attendance for this week, which is Outstanding!

Nut Free Academy

A reminder to all parents we are a Nut Free Academy, please read below.

School Uniform and PE days

Please make sure that all items of clothing, including coats and packed lunch bags are clearly labelled with children’s names, so it is easy to find their owners.

All children have been provided with a t-shirt and shorts in a bag for PE lessons but they need to have their own trainers/plimsols in school please. Plimsols will be provided if needed. As the weather is changing, you may want to send in a tracksuit for children to wear outside during PE lessons.
