The children have been showing their Compassion, looking out for each other in this cold weather, the children in Mrs Wardle class showed courage in their class assembly.

The assembly theme was all around the British value of mutual respect.

Next week the children are working on their determination for British Science week

Year 1/2 Miss Bass Class Round up

The children in Year 1 and 2 have been super busy since our last blog.

In science we have been learning about materials. We have been conducting lots of experiments to identify the properties of each material. Recently we conducted an experiment to see if materials were waterproof or absorbent.

In geography the year one children have been learning about the 7 continents of the world including what the climate is like and the animals and landmarks in these continents. They have also learnt about the 5 oceans of the world including some interesting facts about each ocean. They have learnt that the UK is a small country in Europe. In year 2 the children have been learning about physical and human features and have been comparing these features between two continents – Africa and Europe.

In PE the children have started to learn the basic skills of tennis such as how to balance the ball and walk around without dropping it. This week we went on a school trip to Eston Leisure Centre for our Fundamental Skills session. The children completed six different activities which involved throwing, balancing, passing, jumping, running and many other skills.

In music the children have continued to create Samba music but have also started to learn some Easter themed music, they practiced clapping the beat first and then sang the song.

Breakfast Club

Did you know we do a breakfast club every morning? You can bring your child in, knowing they’ll get a good breakfast before they start school.

This is open to everyone and can be booked in the clubs section on the school gateway app.

It costs £1.20 for each morning your child attends.

Diary Dates and Reminders

Attendance

Attendance every day is vital for your child’s progress unless they are too unwell to learn. It is your responsibility to inform the academy if your child is going to be absent by 9am each day of their absence. You can contact the office on 01642 453374.

This weeks winners are Y5/6!! Congratulations to Mrs Harding class.

100% Attendance

This week we had 62 children who achieved 100% Attendance for this week.

A huge WELL DONE to you all 😊

Can you get 100% next week?

Lunch Menu

Our lunches are provided on a 3 week rota. When we return the menu will be week 2.

School Uniform and PE days

Please make sure that all items of clothing, including coats and packed lunch bags are clearly labelled with children’s names, so it is easy to find their owners.

All children have been provided with a t-shirt and shorts in a bag for PE lessons but they need to have their own trainers/plimsols in school please. Plimsols will be provided if needed. As the weather is changing, you may want to send in a tracksuit for children to wear outside during PE lessons.
