Wilton Expects Focus

What a week it has been!! Heavy rain, transition into new classes and nail biting football!

The children have spent two days in their new classes, meeting their new teacher and trying out some of the activities they’ll be doing in the next school year.

The Assembly theme theme this week was on Emmeline Pankhurst and the impact she had on British Democracy. The character theme was on Courage and Independence.

There is no assembly next week but we’ll be celebrating our Year 6 children as they move onto Secondary School and everyone will be having fun for the last week of term.

Lastly COME ON ENGLAND!!!

Parking around the School

Please could we remind you that parking outside of the school on Pasture Lane is not permitted. On the school side, this is clearly marked out as a no parking zone. This applies on a morning, home time and throughout the day.  Parking on the other side blocks the road and it makes it difficult for cars to pass and makes it unsafe for children. If you need to drive to school, please park on the High Street,  the Grange Estate or further round Pasture Lane to ensure the road and paths around the school grounds are clear and safe for adults and children.

Year 3/4 Miss Norton Class Round Up

Wow, what an incredible year we have had together! We have all achieved so much and made lots of progress in all subject areas.

In English, we have ended the year writing an exciting story about a creature lurking in the woods. Many have us have included all of the features of a narrative in our own work.

We have started reading the BFG in detail and focused only on the first two chapters. The children thought in depth about the characters and the choices they made and came to their conclusions from the descriptions about the characters.

In maths, we continued learning about shapes and recently moved onto fractions, which we will continue as the term comes to an end.

We began our history topic by taking a trip to Kirkleatham Museum, the children were fascinated by what they learned about the Anglo Saxons and retained the knowledge from the day and have used this in class to support their further learning. We have started discussing at the reasons why they came to Briton and what impact they had.

We also began investigating Cams as part of our DT work, and we will be making moving toys next week as part of this scheme of learning. Look out for the final piece!

In science, we have been learning about the different teeth that we have their purpose and function and why it is so important to look after them. Ask the children about the egg experiment. We have also been learning about the digestive system and what happens to food once it has been eaten.

In French, we have started to learn the names of members of our family and we are beginning to introduce them in conversion, linking back to our previous knowledge of saying the names of people.

Breakfast Club

Did you know we do a breakfast club every morning?

You can bring your child in, knowing they’ll get a good breakfast before they start school. This is open to everyone and can be booked in the clubs section on the school gateway app.

It costs £1.20 for each morning your child attends.

Attendance

Attendance every day is vital for your child’s progress unless they are too unwell to learn. It is your responsibility to inform the academy if your child is going to be absent by 8.45am each day of their absence.

You can contact the office on 01642 453374.
