Wilton Expects Focus

What a week it has been at Wilton.

The weather has been fantastic most of the week, with Summer arriving in style and the Euros kicking off with a bang. The result on Thursday may not have been the one the children wanted, but they are still strongly behind England.

The children have been working hard and being true examples of the values we expect in the Academy.

This week’s assembly theme was on Individual Liberty and why it is important what this British Value means.

The children also focused on being Helpful to each other while also showing how hard they work with Independence.

Next week is School Diversity Week and the assembly theme will also focus on Tolerance of different faiths and beliefs.

The main focus for the children will be Caring and Collaboration.

Parking around the School

Please could we remind you that parking outside of the school on Pasture Lane is not permitted. On the school side, this is clearly marked out as a no parking zone. This applies on a morning, home time and throughout the day.  Parking on the other side blocks the road and it makes it difficult for cars to pass and makes it unsafe for children. If you need to drive to school, please park on the High Street,  the Grange Estate or further round Pasture Lane to ensure the road and paths around the school grounds are clear and safe for adults and children.

Year 5/6 Mrs Harding Class Round Up

Year 5 and 6 have had a busy few weeks:

We took part in a STEM activity based around careers in the Maritime Industry.  The children listened to a variety of people talking about their careers from a boat builder to one of the port officials.

Year 5 completed their Bronze award with HeadStart around children’s mental wellbeing.  They are now working towards their Silver, which they should complete by the end of the year.

We have also been learning about how Crime and Punishment ha changed over the last 800 years – ask your child about The Bloody Code or what you might get for throwing a rock into a pond in the Medieval Ages.

Finally, last week, we joined up with LKS2 for a cricket competition – after a bit of a wobbly start, the children soon got the hang of it and played fantastically well and even though the weather was a bit miserable, everyone had a great time.

Breakfast Club

Did you know we do a breakfast club every morning?

You can bring your child in, knowing they’ll get a good breakfast before they start school. This is open to everyone and can be booked in the clubs section on the school gateway app.

It costs £1.20 for each morning your child attends.

Attendance

Attendance every day is vital for your child’s progress unless they are too unwell to learn. It is your responsibility to inform the academy if your child is going to be absent by 8.45am each day of their absence.

You can contact the office on 01642 453374.

This weeks best attendance goes to…..

3 days of missed learning occurred this week due to unauthorised absences. Unauthorised absences are for holidays, parents/carers not contacting the academy or any other unexplained
