Thank you

As we come to the end of the first half term, we would like to thank everybody for all of their hard work in settling back into the new academy routines. Children and parents have been extremely supportive and have understood and accepted the changes we have had to make due to Covid 19. It is hard not being able to welcome parents into the academy but we must limit the number of visitors on site to keep everybody as safe as we can at this time.

We hope you have enjoyed the class focus in the blog and we are sharing photographs of the children regularly on our Facebook page. Please take a look! If you have any suggestions about how you feel we could include parents over the next half term, then please contact the office or speak to Mrs Hood.

Please enjoy a well deserved half term break and we will welcome children back to the academy on Monday 2nd November. The office will be closed during half term.

Parent telephone consultations

Thank you to all the parents who engaged in the parent consultations this week. We know it was different, however staff appreciated the time to talk to you about how well your has settled in and how we help them moving forwards. If you missed your consultation, please contact the office for another appointment.

Year 1 & 2

This week Y1/2 have enjoyed learning about the artist Angie Lewin. We have used mark making, sketching and printing techniques. The children have loved the ability to work in our Art Room with lots of resources at hand to explore with.

In science, we have continued our work on Seasonal Change with the focus on how shadows are made and measuring rainfall.  We made some rainfall gauges and have positioned them around school.  We will check them on our return from the October break.

Take a look at our photos below!

Covid Testing

If any member of your household has symptoms of COVID-19, everybody in your household must self-isolate. You should then arrange to have a test to see if you have COVID-19.

  • a high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
  • a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
  • a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you’ve noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal

If anybody in your household needs to take a test during half term, you must inform track and trace ASAP who will in turn inform the academy. This may affect other pupils in your child’s ‘school bubble’.

Times Tables Rock Stars

Practising times tables is so important in improving maths and is a huge part of number work from Y1 upwards. Please encourage your child to use their account to get as fast as they can which will help them be able to apply their knowledge to different areas of maths.

Congratulations to the highest coin collectors!
