Year 5/6

This week has certainly been a different week for the Year 5/6 class.  We have been working remotely online using the app Showbie.  We have worked hard this week completing Maths, Reading and SPAG Challenges as well as carrying out tasks using Scratch (a computer coding website).  On Tuesday, as a class we took part in Christmas Jumper Day and took part in Christmas activities throughout the day – creating Christmas jokes; making snowflakes and paperchains as well as drinking hot chocolate. We participated in a Christmas Quiz on the afternoon – did you know that Santa Claus has 9 reindeers? Great fun was had by many and we are looking forward to seeing everyone on Monday now the isolation period has been shortened.

Shine Like a Star

The shine like a star focus for this week was to show off your marvellous manners! Children all around the academy have been using please and thank you and showing how well mannered they are!

All of our children who are isolating have really impressed us with their home learning, updates on Showbie and their positive attitude!

If you wish for your child to receive paper copies of work when they are isolating , please contact the academy.

If any member of your household has symptoms of COVID-19, everybody in your household must self-isolate. You should then arrange to have a test to see if you have COVID-19. You must then inform the academy of the result, even if it is negative.

  • a high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
  • a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
  • a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you’ve noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal
